Over the past 90 days Emerging Magazine has received requests from the website Jhoos to "Accept" an invitation from a "friend." The email seems legitimate considering the sender's name is either a collegue, business associate, industry professional we are familiar with or name of a relative.
Evidently, the names are pulled from our social network profiles such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and this site. One particular "Friend" request came from a friend of mine from the music group, The Platters. That one actually caused me to chuckle to myself. Naturally, the sender's email address is newly created.
In order to accept an invitation and join the social network website, you must agree you are over 18 and to accept offers flooding your mailbox. Therefore, these offers filling your email mailbox will not be considered spam, being you accepted their terms for receiving such offers.
Jhoos is a phishing site and you will be duped my friend. My advice is to click the "Unsubscribe" link.
